FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check

All NEW applications for licensure in North Carolina require an FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

At this time, a Revival or Compact privilege applicant is not required to have an FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

After your online application is completed with all fees paid, you will receive detailed information by email. You will also have online access to the forms required for the FBI fingerprint criminal background check.
Once the fingerprints are submitted, it can take up to 4-5 weeks before the results are received by the Board office.

NOTE: Live Scan electronic submission of fingerprints accepted ONLY when completed by a North Carolina law enforcement agency. If you submit fingerprints via Live Scan, do not mail a fingerprint card to the Board office.

If not doing Live Scan, complete two cards, but submit only one fingerprint card to the Board office. Retain the other card for your records.
